Developing Affordable Housing: Cabrillo EDC actively develops affordable housing communities tailored to the needs of low-income individuals, families, seniors, farm workers and veterans. Creating safe and affordable housing opportunities that address the housing crisis and provide homes and community for those who would otherwise struggle to find affordable homes.
Property Management: Cabrillo EDC is responsible for managing the properties we develop. This way, we ensure the properties are well-maintained, provide necessary amenities, and offer a supportive living environment for residents. This helps create stable communities and enhances residents’ overall quality of life.
Community Outreach and Education: Cabrillo EDC engages in community outreach programs to raise awareness about the need for affordable housing as well as the resources available to community members. We do this through our speaker’s bureau, information sessions, and events. We want to equip our community with knowledge and resources about housing affordability, fair housing rights, and financial literacy.
Collaboration with Stakeholders: Cabrillo EDC actively collaborates with local government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community stakeholders to address the unique housing needs in our community. Working collaboratively, we identify gaps in housing services, develop innovative solutions, and advocate for policies that support affordable housing development.
Supportive Services: In addition to providing affordable housing, we proudly offer supportive services to residents. These services include financial counseling, job training, youth programming, social programs, and access to healthcare resources. By addressing the holistic needs of residents, we create stronger, more self-sufficient communities.
Rodney Fernandez Leadership Fund Scholarship Program: The scholarship fund was launched in 2011 to honor Rodney Fernandez, CEDC’s Founder and Executive Director of 30 years. The scholarship supports local youth as they move into higher education. The scholarship continues Rodney Fernandez’s legacy of community building by cultivating the leadership capacity of CEDC residents, helping them to attain their goals, empowering them to take action, and improve the quality of life in their communities.
