Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation has been building affordable housing for over forty years. Now, more than ever, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties are both in dire need of affordable housing due to various factors. The cost of living in these regions has skyrocketed in recent years, driven by the high housing demand from residents and tourists attracted to the beautiful coastal areas. As a result, the prices of homes and rental properties have surged, making it increasingly difficult for low-income individuals and families to find affordable housing options. Many essential workers, such as teachers, healthcare professionals, farm workers, and service industry employees, are being priced out, which puts a strain on their financial well-being and negatively impacts the local economy.

The lack of affordable housing contributes to increased homelessness and housing insecurity.
