Why give?
1. Your donation will provide food, health and social services, homework clubs for children, and much more to our region’s struggling residents.
Patricia Spencieri, now living in Cabrillo’s Camino Esperanza in Simi Valley, worked in the financial industry until she quit her job to care for her sick mother. After her mother passed away, Patricia could not find a job. She had to sell her home and belongings. It was a nightmare, and she was nearly homeless. “Moving into Camino Esperanza turned my life around. I never thought I would have my own place again. It truly restored my life.”
2. Your support will provide farmworkers, veterans, seniors, and individuals with disabilities a quality affordable home. People are living in substandard, crowded conditions on the verge of homelessness. In Ventura County, housing costs are among the highest in the nation.
Leticia Leon, a resident at Cabrillo’s Azahar Apartments in Ventura, used to live in a garage with her husband and two daughters. She knows many families of five who live in a one-bedroom apartment and struggle every day, and she hopes Cabrillo can one day help them too. “I am very thankful that Cabrillo was able to give my daughters and family a home. The dynamics of my family have changed for the best.”
3. Your generosity will fund college scholarships for high-achieving students who want to empower themselves through education and improve the quality of life in their communities.
Montserrat Infante Torres is a Rodney Fernandez Leadership Scholarship recipient. “I know that going away to school will be hard, but I can see that you all support me here and that CEDC does care about students.”
Your generosity will improve the lives of Cabrillo residents.
