Villa Campesina

Villa Campesina, Moorpark. 1992.

CEDC developed this 62 home self help housing project in Moorpark with the Villa Campesina Corporation, a local community organization. Under this program 62 low income families became homeowners in Ventura County's first self help housing program. This sweat equity project was completed between 1990-1992.

Under the self help program, each family works 40 hours a week for the construction period of about ten months. Groups of ten or eleven families work together under skilled supervision. Construction supervision was provided by the People's Self Help Housing Corporation of San Luis Obispo County. This CEDC program has received national recognition on CNN and ABC's Home Show.
